Isabel Free's Cinnamon Rolls

  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 2 Tbsp yeast
  • 2 1/2 cups warm water
  • 8 Tbsp butter, cut in pieces
  • 8 Tbsp sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 6-8 cups flour
  1. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water sprinkled with 1 Tbsp. sugar.  In a large bowl mix 2 1/2 cups warm water, butter pieces, sugar, eggs, and salt.  Gradually add flour until it pulls from the sides.  Cover with a towel and let rise 1 hour.  Divide dough into 2 pieces.  Roll each into a rectangle.  Brush with softened butter.  Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.  Roll from long edge and seal.  Cut into wheels with thread and place in a 9 x 13 pan.  Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 min.  Frost with favorite frosting.
