Old Brown Jam

Jam so good you call it "Old Brown Jam" to keep people from wanting it...

Servings: 6 pints
  • 7 cups Chopped or Mashed Pears
  • 9 cups Sugar
  • 2 pkg Pectin
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp cloves
  • 2 tsp allspice
  1. Peel and core fruit, mash and measure into large sauce pan. 

  2. Add spices.

  3. Measure sugar and set aside.

  4. Place pan over high heat. Add pectin and stir until it comes to a hard boil. Stir in sugar quickly and bring to a full rolling boil. Boil 1 minute while stirring constantly.

  5. Remove from heat and skim off foam. Pour quickly into sterilized jars and seal.
