Air Fryer Donuts
Course: Dessert
Ingredients
Donut
  • 1 cup lukewarm milk (about 100 degrees)
  • 2 1/2 tsp active dry yeast (or instant yeast)
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 cups flour
  • oil spray
Glaze
  • 6 Tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 Tbsp hot water
Instructions
  1. In a stand mixer with the dough hook, gently stir together lukewarm milk, 1 tsp of sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add sugar, salt, egg, melted butter, and 2 cups of flour. Mix on low until combined, then with the mixer running add the remaining cup of flour slowly, until the dough no longer sticks to the bowl.

  3. Increase speed to medium-low and knead for 5 minutes. The dough should be elastic and smooth.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size.

  5. Place the dough on a floured surface, punch it down, and gently roll it out to about 1/2 inch thickness.

  6. Cut out donuts.

  7. Transfer the donuts and donut holes to parchment paper and cover loosely with greased plastic wrap. Let the donuts rise until doubled (about 30 minutes).

  8. With the air fryer preheated to 350 degrees, spray the basket with oil spray and carefully transfer the donuts to the air fryer in a single layer. Spray donuts and cook until golden brown (about 4 minutes). Repeat with the remaining donuts.

  9. For the glaze, melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in hot water 1 Tbsp at a time. The glaze should be thin, but not watery.

  10. Dip donuts in the glaze and then place them on a wire rack to let the glaze cool and harden.

  11. Enjoy!
