This is a recipe mom got in a book put together by the primary presidency in Edgemont 11th ward as a Christmas gift for her and other youth serving in the primary that year. It’s become a family night, Christmas, and party treat favorite!
- 1 cup light karo syrup
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 6 cups cornflakes or (Special K) cereal
-
Mix karo syrup and sugar in a medium-large sauce pan. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and add peanut butter and vanilla. Mix well. Measure cereal into large bowl. Pour peanut butter mixture over cereal. Drop by spoonfuls on to wax or parchment paper.
The original recipe from Louise Barrett (Jamisons' next door neighbor) and Elaina Wendelboe (one of mom's Mia Maid advisors) calls for chunky peanut butter, but we've always used creamy.
