3 Week Bran Muffins

Grandma Isabel Free's recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 cups Boiling water
  • 2 cups 100% Bran Buds (All Bran or Fiber One cereal)
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 5 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 quart buttermilk
  • 5 cups flour
  • 4 cups Bran Flakes cereal
Instructions
  1. Pour boiling water over 100% Bran buds and let sit. Meanwhile cream shortening and brown sugar. Add remaining ingredients including the soggy Bran buds adding the Bran Flakes cereal last. Bake in muffin tins at 400 degrees for 20-25 min. Keeps 3 weeks in fridge. Cover tightly.
